Below is a list of the top voted tree services in Miami for 2020. One of the most importing factors for customers when choosing a tree company is the previous customer reviews.
We decided to take a bit more of a mathematical approach when deciding on the winners for this year.
You see some reviews hold more weight than others. Facebook reviews are renowned for being filled with reviews from friends, but that being said there are a lot of legitimate reviews on that platform.
|Company||Details||Avg. Rating||GTQ score||Place|
Who qualified to make the list?
To qualify to make the list, you needed to have a minimum of 20 reviews total across a minimum of 2 different platforms. This can be Google, Facebook, Yelp, Yellow Pages, Angies List, Home advisor or any other 3rd party review platform. Curated reviews taken on personal websites were not counted.
The company needed to be in business for a minimum of 5 years.
We feel that years in operation is a big factor as it speaks volumes about the competence of the business as a whole. A lot of the business on the list have been in business for 10 years or more.
GTQ rating formula
The GoTreeQuotes rating is a mathematical formula which takes into account the number for year in business, the number of reviews, as well as the average score.
We believe the provenance of a company and the number of reviews, is just as important as the average score. Just as long as that average score does not dip too much below the 4.0 mark.
The formula used:
Years in business X number of reviews / 1000 X Average score = GTQ rating
17 x 247/ 1000 x 4.95 = 208
Taking into account all three performance indicators of a business gives us a pretty accurate look at the overall satisfaction of customers while the tree service has been operating.
We found this to be the fairest and most procise way to do things.
Below are some more details on the companies in order as they appear on the list above.
How to report a tree problem in Sacramento
You can call the City of Sacramento customer service hot line on 311. Just explain the issue with the tree and where it is located and they operator will dispatch a city arborist to inspect the tree.
If there tree is fallen over a road or power lines or is endangering lives in any way, call Emergency Management Services on 916-808-1740. These types of emergency jobs do need to be taken care of immediately so regular bureaucracy needs to be skipped to make the tree and public as safe as possible in a short amount of time.
Will the city remove a tree on private property?
Unfortunately the city will only remove or prune trees on public land. All trees on your property need to be maintained by the owner. If you are renting you will need to speak with your landlord first about a problem tree.
Even though the city can tell you whether you can remove a tree or not they will not pay for it. Trees are actually considered to be owned by the community as the whole community benefits from their presence.
Can I request a tree inspection by a city arborist?
Yes and no. Let me explain. You cannot just call up and request an arborist to come out and inspect your tree just because you would like to know the tree’s health. This is something you would need to have done by a private arborist at your own expense.
If they arborist has inspected the tree and you decide you would like to remove it, you will need to apply for a permit (if the tree is considered protected. See below parameters for “privately protected trees”).
Once the application has been filed a city arborist will then come out and inspect the tree and give you the thumbs up or thumbs down for removal.
In some cases they may ask for supporting evidence before they give the ok for removal.
For example if you are citing the trees poor health and danger to the public for your reason for removal, the city arborist might ask that you procure an arborist report from a private arborist to corroborate these claims.
Can I remove trees on my property?
You can if the tree is not protected. How do you tell if your tree is protected? You need to check Sacramento’s Tree Permits and Ordinance rules for removal. See a summary here:
You will need a permit if:
The tree is on city property
The tree is “Privately protected”. See below for definition.
The tree is “heritage listed”
Privately protected trees are:
- All native trees at 12 inch DSH*. Native trees include: Coast, Interior, Valley and Blue Oaks, CA Sycamore and Buckeye.
- All trees at 32 inch DSH with an existing single family or duplex dwelling.
- All trees at 24 inch DSH on undeveloped land or any other type of property such as commercial, industrial, and apartments.
* DSH = Diameter Standard Height. Learn how to measure a trees’ DBH

Once filled in you can email the application to email@example.com. Most of the time this is required for Development application. For residential use, just submit your application and the city will advise if more information is required.

How do I choose a tree service in Sacramento for my job?
The best place to start is this page. We have devised a formula for listing the very best tree services in each city by taking previous customers vote, the average score, the number of votes, the number of platforms being voted on and the number of years in business. Each one of these factors weighs in on the overall GTQ score assigned to the company.
With the companies listed here, you can literally take a stab in the dark and will get a good deal at a great price, but I also suggest a few other checks on each company before engaging their services.
- Associations – Make sure they are a Member of a professional Arbor organization such as the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA), the Tree Care Industry Association (TCIA), or the Society of Consulting Arborists (ASCA).
- Certification – Make sure they are a qualified arborist.
- Proof of Insurance – Ask them to provide a copy of the Public Liability Insurance details. It is important you phone the insurer and make sure they are up to date with their payments for cover.
- Competitive pricing – Make sure you get prices from at least three different company before you decide on one. It is easy to be sold by the first company you speak to as they might seem nice and reasonably priced. Best comparing prices to be sure though.
- List of references – This is covered in the online reviews of companies. Make sure you have a read to make sure previous customers were happy with the job done.

Certified tree trimmers in Sacramento
The city have also provided residents with a list of certified tree trimmers they consider legitimate because they are members of the International Society of Arboriculture.

If you are after the top voted local tree trimmers, I do suggest you refer to the list provided at the top of the page.

If you ask a tree service 95% of the time they would be happy to give you the wood chips that were created from your tree being removed. Most of the time tree services struggle to get rid of them. Larger companies will store them and sell them on for a profit, but very few. Others give them to landscape suppliers free, who then sell them to the public.
